This course deals with issues related to governance in Islamic centers and similar organizations in the Muslim community in the United States. It will define governance as it relates to non-profit entities, examine the organizational structure of Muslim non-profits, review governing documents of typical as well as representative organizations and draw conclusions about current practices and emerging trends in how American Muslim community organizations are governed.

This course with deal with the skills and competencies needed to work with volunteers in faith-based non-profit organizations. It will deal especially with enrolling, encouraging, and retaining volunteers, since volunteers are the essential "working capital" of volunteer-based organizations.
